Hastings Voluntary Action

Early in 2017, the Resident-led Partnership decided to change the organisation that acts as Locally Trusted Organisation (LTO).  Hastings Voluntary Action (HVA) was selected for its experience in the community sector and the guidance and support that it offers.  The new arrangements started on 01 July 2017.

The Early Years 2013-17

Interim Steering Group

Until December 2013, Big Local North East Hastings was  run by an Interim Steering Group comprised of twelve representatives drawn from local community organisations and community centres, the majority of whom were also resident in our Big Local area; ward councillors; representatives from the two major social housing associations in the area; two officials from Hastings Borough Council’s regeneration team; and the local representative for UnLtd’s Start People programme.

Locally Trusted Organisation

The steering group appointed Orbit Housing Association to be its Local Trusted Organisation to hold the funds and enter into agreements on its behalf.  Orbit carried out this role 2013-2017.

The "Getting Started" team

The Interim Steering Group commissioned a team of people to raise awareness of the Big Local in North East Hastings. Over 12 weeks from May to August 2013, they gathered views from local residents and other stakeholders about how the Big Local funding should be spent, and compiled a report to the Interim Steering Group.

This "Getting Started" team was led by Hastings Voluntary Action, and the core members consisted of:  Barry Cooper, Jodie Cornford, Steve Manwaring, Peter Thorpe and Nick Wates.
